Out of State Alcohol Education Classes

There are a number of legal and practical problems facing out of state residents who have been arrested for DUI in California. One problem is how to comply with California's requirement to complete an alcohol education program upon conviction for DUI. Many States do not run programs of sufficient length to satisfy California Courts. Alcohol programs in California vary in length from three months to thirty months depending on the facts of the case. Judges often require evidence that any out of state program satisfies California requirements and this may be impossible to get. One option would be to have a private program specifically tailer its program to suit California rules. This can be very expensive. Another option would be to return to California and do the alcohol program here. This ofcourse, is impossible for most people who have a job and family in their home state.

One way out of this practical difficulty would be to seek the judges permission to do an on-line program from home. These classes meet California requirements for persons living in another state who received a DUI in California.
