Will I Have to Attend an Alcohol Education Program?
As a condition of probation for a conviction of drunk driving, defendants are often required to complete an alcohol education program or "DUI School." This typically lasts for three months with weekly meetings. In some circumstances, however, it may last for as long as nine months if the BAC level was higher than 0.15 percent. For secondary or subsequent offenses, it could be as long as thirty months. DUI schools are run privately and state certified — they cost up to $1,400 for an eighteen-month program that you would be required to cover.
