Beverly Hills Judges disciplined in Lohan Case

According to a report in the Los Angeles Times this week, two Beverly Hills Judges have been admonished by the States Commission on Judicial Performance for their handling of the Lindsay Lohan case. Judge Marsha Revel was admonished for improperly meeting with a defense attorney without notice to the district attorney dealing with the case. Judge Elden Fox was admonished for improperly denying bail at Ms Lohans probation violation hearing and for failing to listen to the arguments of her defense attorney.

Beverly Hills Court has a reputation among DUI defense lawyers in Los Angeles for being tough on DUI cases. For example, Judge Revel has a policy of requiring that defendants on a first time DUI with a breath or blood alcohol level of .15% or more, install in their vehicle an ignition interlock device for between one and three years. This is not required in any other court in Los Angeles County.
